Organic White & Yellow at Open Farm Community
In the heart of Singapore lies a venue that feels like a breath of fresh air. Open Farm Community is famous for its beautiful gardens and farm-to-table dining. It celebrates sustainability, connection, and organic living. When we were asked to design the flowers for a small wedding at this venue, we knew the design had to highlight the charm of the space.
This wasn’t the time for towering arrangements or heavily structured bouquets. Here, it was about letting nature do the talking. So we did just that, keeping everything real, raw, and grounded.
The result was a tablescape that quietly captivated guests. It invited them into a space where every bloom, stem, and vine told a story.
The Philosophy Behind the Tablescape
Florals are usually expected to steal the show. Big, bold, polished. But at Open Farm Community, the setting itself already had a presence.
Instead of overpowering it, we leaned into its rhythm. We designed a tablescape that blended, breathed, and enhanced. Every choice was intentional.
We grounded our approach in the philosophy of quiet luxury, elegant without shouting, detailed without excess. This wedding wasn’t about the “wow” moment. It was about consistent beauty in every direction the guests looked, down to the smallest filler bloom.
Planning Around a Living, Breathing Venue
Before we even picked a single flower, we visited the venue. The Open Farm Community space is a blend of rustic textures, greenery, and soft sunlight filtering through glass. The interiors are warm, wooden, and open, letting the outdoors in. That influenced everything.
We didn’t want a typical wedding look. We wanted the florals to feel foraged that morning, like they belonged there. That’s where the idea of using cucumbers, spring onions, grapes, and spotted gourds came from. Each element echoed the kitchen garden surrounding the restaurant.
Sourcing Local and Seasonal
Because the space values sustainability, we followed suit. All florals and ingredients used were seasonal and thoughtfully selected. The goal was to support local and regional growers where possible.
Delicate white and yellow flowers, soft but full of character, were paired with wild greens and moss. This added both freshness and movement to the tablescape. Instead of relying on large, exotic imports, we chose ingredients that had texture, scent, and story.
The Joy of Imperfection
One of the most beautiful parts of this project was embracing imperfection. Not every stem stood upright. Not everyone tamed every vine.
And that was the point. We didn’t force symmetry or perfection. We designed it as nature would, flowing, asymmetric, a little unpredictable.
It gave the tablescape a personality. A kind of visual honesty that matched the couple’s own vibe: relaxed, warm, and full of love.
A Tablescape, But Make It Interactive
Most wedding florals are admired, then forgotten. But here, we invited guests to notice and explore. Arrangements were low enough to speak across, but detailed enough to linger on. A sprig of flowers tucked into moss. A grapevine weaves through blooms. A cucamelon vine curls beside a ranunculus.
Guests pointed things out to each other. “Is that… grape?” one guest laughed. And yes, it was. These playful, unexpected touches made the tablescape feel alive.
Letting Movement Shape the Design
One of the most thoughtful elements in this project was how we played with form and flow. Instead of rigidly structured florals, each arrangement was crafted with curves, dips, and subtle asymmetry. It created a feeling of natural movement, like the plants had simply grown that way on the table.
This style also meant each table had its own silhouette. The visual flow encouraged guests to explore, and the contrast in heights created rhythm from one table to the next. It was less about control, more about capturing the energy of the space and letting the florals mirror it.
Colours and Textures That Whisper
The colour palette was kept soft and natural. White and buttery yellow, paired with green foliage and neutral moss. It created an airy, quiet tone.
We played with textures: soft petals, slick grapes, knobby gourds, airy filler, and tender vines. Together, these created layers that didn’t overwhelm, just flowed.
It wasn’t just floral styling. Sensory design was present. You could see it, feel it, even smell it.
Each Table Had a Slightly Different Story
No two arrangements were the same. Some had more fruits, others more floral focus. This subtle variety across the tablescape kept things fresh, giving the eye different things to appreciate without feeling chaotic.
The varying heights and shapes created a balanced flow. The result was visual interest from every angle without disrupting the comfort of conversation.
Playing With Negative Space
We intentionally left space around the florals. Breathing room existed between the arrangements and other décor, no clutter, no overcrowding. This lets the guests enjoy the flowers as a visual treat. They also appreciated the warm, simple table setting from Open Farm Community.
The negative space showed off the room’s architecture and the natural surroundings outside. These were visible through the glass walls.
The Role of the Venue’s Aesthetics
Open Farm Community gave us more than just a physical space. It gave us a narrative to design around. The warm wood tones, airy glass walls, and potted herbs around the space all informed how we shaped the tablescape.
We didn’t compete with the environment, we respected it. And in doing so, the florals felt like an extension of the venue itself.
Imagining the Guest Experience
We always design with the guest experience in mind. From the moment they walked in, they were greeted with natural scents, not artificial, but fresh, grounding, and herbal.
We imagined hands reaching out to touch soft moss, fingers brushing past a wild vine. And we hoped our work would be something they remembered, not for being loud, but for being deeply considered.
A Sensory Escape Rooted in Realness
At its core, this tablescape was about connection. It wasn’t just decor for decor’s sake. It was about connecting people to nature, to the couple, and to the values of the venue.
Guests didn’t just sit at a table, they were brought into a world. A world of small delights: the scent of rosemary, the curve of a grapevine, the softness of cream petals.
A Quiet Love Story Told Through Flowers
The couple behind this wedding weren’t looking for extravagance. They wanted meaning. They valued sustainability, natural beauty, and creating a space where people could feel at home.
Our design reflected that. Nothing was too much. Everything was just right; thoughtful, composed, and full of quiet personality.
Designing With Purpose
This wedding reaffirmed why we do what we do. When we allow florals to be more than pretty, they become powerful. They create memory, anchor emotion, and inspire connection.
In a place like Open Farm Community, nature matters a lot. Designing this space with purpose is key, not just a luxury.
