A Thoughtful Empress Restaurant Wedding

This wedding took place at Empress Restaurant, an intimate restaurant venue with clear spatial limits. The space features strong architectural details and fixed elements, so every styling decision required intention. From the start, the goal was clear. Create impact in a small wedding venue without overwhelming it.

Instead of spreading design elements across the room, the styling focused on two key areas. First, the entrance aisle. Second, the backdrop above the restaurant bar. These were the most visible points in the space and offered the best opportunity to shape the overall experience.

Working Within a Small Restaurant Venue

For this intimate wedding, we first assessed what the venue allowed. Some fixtures could not be moved, and service flow needed to remain clear throughout the event.

As a result, large installations had to respond to existing structures rather than work against them.

Because of this, the design prioritised clarity over scale. The entrance aisle guided guests into the space and created a sense of arrival, while still keeping walkways open.

At the same time, the area above the bar became the main focal point, as it could be seen from most angles within the restaurant.

A Balanced Floral Installation

The backdrop combined fresh flowers with large paper flowers to create impact without adding visual or physical weight.

Vertical form drew the eye upward, while layered textures added depth and interest. Together, these choices made the space feel more complete without crowding it.

By concentrating the floral work in these two areas, the rest of the venue remained open and functional. As a result, the florals felt eye-catching but still appropriate for the scale of the restaurant.

Planning an Intimate Restaurant Wedding?

This project shows how small restaurant wedding decor at Empress Restaurant Singapore can feel intentional when placement and proportion come first. Instead of filling the entire space, the design focused on key moments that shaped how the room felt.
